HOW BIOLOGICAL POND CARE WORKS
Improve the conditions that support a healthier pond.
1. Organic material accumulates
Leaves, dead plants, algae, fish waste and runoff add organic material to a pond. As it settles and decomposes, it contributes to muck and increased oxygen demand.
2. Microbes help decomposition
Beneficial microorganisms and enzymes support natural breakdown and nutrient cycling. Targeted products can put that activity in the water column or directly into bottom muck.
3. Aeration supports the process
Microbial pond management generally performs best with adequate oxygen and circulation. Aeration and biological treatment are complementary tools, not competing approaches.
Important: Beneficial bacteria are not algaecides. They do not directly kill algae. They are a longer-term pond-management tool, and visible improvement may require several weeks depending on temperature, oxygen, nutrient loading and the condition of the pond.
